The Anglers Dream

The boat was built in 1995 in North Carolina specifically as a deep
sea fishing head (or party) boat. Fully laden the boat weighs roughly
48,000 lbs (24 Tons). It is equipped with twin Cummins 450 hp QSM
electronic engines and matching transmissions, all fitted brand
new in October 2003. It is driven through the water by twin 30 inch
propellers and cruises at circa 15 knots (17 mph). The top speed
recorded, so far,
has been 25 knots – roughly 27 mph. Almost every piece of
equipment effecting our ability to find and position ourselves over
fish was also replaced in a recent overhaul, including modern
top of the range fish-finding electronics and anchor winch (critical
for boat positioning). |
Safety
Safety is paramount aboard all head boats and the US Coast Guard
does a tremendous job in carefully monitoring this element. The
Anglers Dream is such a safe and highly equipped
vessel that it is Coast Guard approved to a limit of 100 miles off
shore. This is an unusual license in these waters where most fishing
boats are limited to 20 miles off shore. This extra range allows
us to seek out the fish regardless of time of year considerations
such as water temperatures. The Anglers Dream enjoys this approval
for many reasons including the stability of the vessel, it’s
engines, the level of safety equipment such Short Band radio, life
rafts, life vests, EPIRB satellite location equipment and much much
more. The Captain is, of course, certified by the US Coast
Guard and we talk more of this below. |
